Larry Avril has 57 years of hands-on electronic design, fabrication, assembly, and test experience. Initially starting out with vacuum tubes, he moved into the solid-state arena as the new technology was birthed.
Larry then spent 15 years as the senior systems engineer for the PerkinElmer PDS Microdensitometer product line which included design, parts procurements, test, and field service worldwide. After that, he moved on to the Jet Propulsion Laboratory where he spent 15 years as a super-tech and engineer, doing design and development for the Mars Sojourner Rover, the Mars Explorer Rovers, the Ballistic Missile Defense Office, and many other high-technology R&D projects.
In 2002, Larry retired from JPL and started his own business providing essential maintenance and upgrades for critical laboratory-grade film scanners, as well as diversified contract work for several other companies. As a result of working on many kinds of diversified equipment, he acquired a very wide technical skill set.
